Once More, with FEELING.

Hello, new world!

Welcome to my humble abode... on the internet. :)

This is my new blog - after about six other failed attempts - for my new life as a Disney College Program Spring Advantage 2013 intern!

*wild applause - FFVII fanfare*

In light of my acceptance to the DCP SA 2013, I've been inspired to start writing.

... hopefully I'll manage it better than my Young American Blog...

SPEAKING OF... the Young Americans. I'm no longer one. I've tied up my happy box of Young American memories and shoved it back into the far corners of my mind. And my closet. I miss my friends that I made out there, and I miss performing...

But I'm following where God's pointing me. I have been pointed to the Wonderful World of Walt Disney World in Lake Buena Vista, FL. Or Orlando, whichever you like.

Let's start this out with a mini story of how I've come to be an official DCP intern.

While I was in my freshman year out in CA at the Young Americans, I went with my good friend (that I miss dearly), Megan, to my first Disney College Program Campus Representation! It was FANTASTIC. I was so impressed.

That day in general was just wonderful. I had a great road trip in CA with my best friend, listening to anything and everything, and the weather was PERFECT. I've never had such a good day in my whole experience out  in CA! It was amazing. The campus rep was great, and I was sold immediately. I was convinced that Disney World was going to be my life after the YA's.

Needless to say, I applied immediately after that rep, just like they said to do. You're supposed to apply for the program three days after the rep.

I think I applied the hour after I went, lol. If not, definitely the evening of the rep that we went to.

I amazingly got through all the stages of the application: Initial application, web-based interview, and the phone interview. The phone interview was surprisingly easy. The lady was British, and I thought it was a recording, but it wasn't.

During my stay home after my first semester of the Young Americans, I received an email that said I had made it into the Spring Advantage 2012 term. Me, being the stubborn ox that I am, chose to go back to the Young Americans to finish up my first year, even though I'd made a pro's-and-con's list about why I should go back to CA as opposed to Disney, and Disney won hands down, I decided I wasn't a quitter and went back.

Yup. It was silly, because I know first hand how hard both companies are to get into.

I turned down a Quick Service Food and Beverage role (even though I've NEVER had any experience working with food), to go back.

Then, I applied for the Fall 2012 term for the DCP during my second semester at the YA's. I made it through all of the applications stages, but never made it in. My boyfriend did, and he's making a great career for himself down there as we speak. :)

NOW! During my first year at home, taking classes at my local, fantastic college, I decided to apply again for the internship. By this point, I WANTED IN SO BADLY!

I went through all the steps, over thinking every little detail ("OHMGOODNESS! MY NAME IS CHELSEA, RIGHT?!?"), and had a near spazz attack over my phone interview.

That poor woman didn't know what hit her.

I was so nervous about getting in this time that I'm pretty sure I talked her ear clean off. Poor Jennifer...

Long story short, I made it through, Spring Advantage 2013, Merchandise (YAY!), and I'm packed and ready to go.

Literally. I'm already packed. I have been since September. I arrive in January.

OH WELL! :D

More soon, folks. :)
